POSITION: SENIOR IT GOVERNANCE OFFICER

JOB PURPOSE: The role holder ensures the execution of governance policies within the Technology department and monitoring the activities of various IT users to ensure compliance to the Banks’ governance framework as well as external regulations and standards to prevent penalties and reputational damage.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implements policies to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access or use to protect the bank from breaches.
  • Assists in establishing data standards for use of the banks’ database environment, including defining fields and creating rules for data entry and retrieval.
  • Reviews the use of data by various departments or users to ensure compliance with privacy and data protection laws and regulations.
  • Liaises with internal auditors to measure and monitor progress of mandated remedial actions from risk, events, control vulnerabilities and audit actions
  • Monitors IT units and end-users for compliance with IT regulations, standards, and policies, and prepares regular reports for information and decision-making purposes.
  • Assists in processing vendors and ensures they go through the appropriate procedures to ensure compliance with vendor management regulations.
  • Supports with maintaining the IT leave management system and ensures that it is updated to provide accurate information to users.

QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT related discipline plus five (5) years' work experience in IT in the financial services industry, two (2) years of which must be in similar role
  • Certification in data governance or related field is an added advantage.
