POSITION: DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

DEPARTMENT: TECHNOLOGY – IT OPERATIONS/IT INFRASTRUCTURE

JOB PURPOSE: This role is responsible for providing technical support in the management of the bank’s database systems to ensure efficient, secure and reliable storage and retrieval of customer and transactional data.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides support in the implementation and maintenance the bank's database server and application tools.
• Maintains documentation for the bank's database systems, including data models, data standards, procedures, schema diagrams, data dictionaries, and other technical documents.
• Investigates and resolves/escalate issues concerning corporate application databases.
• Executes database migrations and upgrades the databases, patch servers and application tools.
• Monitors and optimizes the performance of the database to always ensure operational efficiency.
• Manages the proper archiving of databases to ensure availability of information.
• Backs up and restores databases to always ensure availability of information.
• Monitors and manages data replication to ensure business continuity.
• Assists with capacity and performance planning of databases.
• Conducts research and makes recommendations on suitable database products, services and protocols and standards in support of technology development efforts.

QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology/Computer Science.
• A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a database management, preferably within the banking sector
• Certification in Database Administration, IT Service Management and/or Cloud database administration.
