POSITION: Credit Analyst

JOB PURPOSE: The role holder is responsible for conducting credit analysis and financial assessments to support sound credit decision-making within the Corporate and Institutional Banking Division. The role evaluates customers’ financial position, assesses credit risk, prepares credit proposals, and monitors credit exposures to ensure the Bank maintains a high-quality loan portfolio while supporting business growth.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers and relevant stakeholders to conduct customer and project site visits to obtain information, monitor project progress, and gain a comprehensive understanding of customers' business operations.
  • Evaluate customers’ financial statements, cash flows, and other credit information to assess repayment capacity and determine the level of credit risk associated with lending opportunities.
  • Conduct detailed financial and non-financial analyses to identify business strengths, weaknesses, and potential risks in support of informed credit decisions.
  • Develop financial models, cash flow projections, and credit risk assessments using customer information to support credit recommendations and lending decisions.
  • Prepare comprehensive Credit Application Memoranda (CAM) for submission to the appropriate Credit Committees in accordance with the Bank's credit policies and procedures.
  • Present and defend Credit Application Memoranda before Management Credit Committee and Board Credit Committee to facilitate timely credit approvals.
  • Review existing credit facilities and portfolio performance to ensure credit exposures remain within approved risk appetite and portfolio quality standards.
  • Identify deteriorating credit exposures and recommend appropriate remedial actions to mitigate potential credit losses and improve portfolio quality.
  • Monitor compliance with approved credit terms, covenants, and conditions to ensure adherence to the Bank's credit policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare periodic credit portfolio, risk assessment, and financial analysis reports to support management decision-making and portfolio oversight.

QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, or other relevant field.
  • A professional qualification in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, or a related discipline will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' relevant experience in Credit Analysis, Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking, Credit Risk Management, Financial Analysis, or a related field
